TREASON and its wandering definition

We might think the ultimate treason would involve something like military secrets. It would suggest a serious case of undermining the very nature of our country, by giving its enemies or potential adversaries an advantage they had not earned except by steeling, thus advancing their cause against us whatever it may be. Indeed, national defense is a very serious interest of any nation. The USA would be no exception.

Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of espionage on behalf of the former Soviet Union. They were found guilty of being atomic bomb spies, and were executed on June 19, 1953, at Sing Sing Prison, Ossining, New York. This proved (by act) that the undermining of the USA would not go unpunished when caught, but how far does the concept of undermining the nations interest go? How far is that damage implied to be, when we as a country are willing to execute people over it, even though they had their own philosophical or emotional reasons to do what they did?

Those personal reasons were viewed as no excuse for the actions. This raises a profound question; who determines what the national interest are and who may or may not be undermining them? That is what I will be asking here as a regular citizen.

I have heard right wing extremists personalities accuse various alleged liberals of being treasonous for not completely agreeing with what a certain US administrations says or does (time of war excuse). Indeed, for some of these, they have gone so far as to suggest that any non conformist position in regards to said administration in a time of alleged war, is treasonous or sedition. How quickly we forget how the shoe was on the other foot just over 8 years ago. It seems they do not remember the complaints over president Bill Clinton’s Bosnia intervention.

I remember much protest going on on the right; that they had the right to disagree with the administration as Americans exercising their rights of free speech. It is patriotic to tell the truth for the good of the country,etc. I remember feeling; they are right. Nothing for the better is served by suppression of thoughtful debate. How else will we be ready to change direction if need be, if we have not thought of our options and deeper interest as a nation, a nation of free people? It is the duty of free citizens to exercise their rights or they will be taken away. There is an attempt afoot to only hold one side of the political spectrum up to certain alleged standards of behavior.

The Vietnam War had much protest during its run. Could we construe that all demonstrators were treasonous? What about near the end (such as now?) when most of the population feels the war is wrong? Can most of America be locked up or executed? Why not? Who would actually stop this Nazi and Stalin, or Mao like purge? Should that wall we would like to build around the US have gun towers to shoot anyone going either way? Why not? Prison camp USA.

We have seen the stretching of abstractions in this right of center administration to the point that a once very high up adviser to the president, assumed to be the so called “Bushes Brain”, stated that the fact or reality based communities are the subjects of history in the making, while those who do what they want are the active actors. It is a curious observation; reading history in a manner where desires are more profound than realities on the ground. Any delusional or neurotic/psychotic personality operates on these “principles”. And so I must ask; If a president ask all of us to kill ourselves because they feel like it is best for the nation, do we do it, or have the government do it, because not doing it makes us by some stretch of rationalization–treasonous?

We, as a nation, are asked to operate on the principles of a cult with a delusional leadership. Given this unhinging from realty; why would we not have to carry out the presidential mandate if the president decided that; let’s say, our overpopulation was leading our nation to a second class state-nationhood, and that that would destroy our dominance over our enemies, thus, being born was itself a kind of act of treason, giving a kind of aid and comfort then to our enemies. Why would not an assumed all powerful president have this prerogative, given the now proved fact that the president signs excuses for behavior counter to law as being passed by congress (signing statements)? The Supreme executive can do what it wants, and have enforcers carry out the commands or face court marshal or death on the spot. The guy we currently have, called the US Constitution a “G–D—piece of paper.” Was not the USA created to overcome the dictatorial nature of a monarch?

Currently, we are in some peoples minds “at war”, a war unending against groups and associations, some of which are unknown. But still, I missed the declaration of war by Congress, or at least why the actions on the right during Clinton’s years were not themselves undermining the nation. We clearly have duplicitous notions on the rights of a citizen, based on selective bias to one political views interest, and not the collective interest of nation. This asymmetrical application of standards, itself, represents a potential dire threat to the nation and must be examined. Here I am going into a few of these lopsided views of reality.

AMERICA STABBED IN THE BACK

We have seen in recent history, an attempt by one political party to attain a permanent majority. I have a link to a more in depth article on the “K Street Project” below at bottom. In it one will notice the oft claimed rationalization for the right wings behavior; ‘Well. They did it too!’, referring to Democratic dominance like machinery during and after the Great Depression. Interesting how a perceived wrong done by someone else becomes a right when you are in power! So much for principles. The same lack of principled standard seems to apply to manipulating elections, for the “Daley Machine” of Chicago’s history was said to have dead people voting during the Kennedy/Nixon election. Election fraud has been rampant throughout US history

The attempt to create a permanent majority, a one party state in a democracy, is an anathema to the concept. Any party that takes over a country to the exclusion of others is taking over democracy! Democracy as intended then, no longer exist. So far we have been lucky, or so we might hope or believe, that the hubris and contempt for the commons endemic to most present day conservatism, is blatantly seen for the contempt for reason that it is.

We apparently still seem to have a choice of a sorts come election time. But this truth remains; our elections are highly compromised. Votes are not all verifiable, groups can select out, target other groups that vote heavily towards one party. Elections are highly dependent on money, as is the access to ideas of government, due to money slanted access to citizen perception. Two parties seem to be loyal to the good of their party machinery above the good of the nation.

The current administration values loyalty by far above the truth. Thus perpetuating and perpetrating their perceptual/emotional dysfunctions from the top down. Even the judiciary has been being purged to be replaced with compliant cronies and sycophants. We are left governed by high incompetence, absolute arrogance, and dysfunctional perception based on an ideology needing no fact checks of institutional balance. The current Presidential Press Secretary did not even know what the Cuban Missile Crisis was for goodness sake!

Remember hurricane Katrina, where we watched as wheel chaired people (as well as others) died over the days of instituted neglect by the government? It was just a beginning view of our drowning of the commons in the bathtub policy being pursued like the holy grail by the emotionally disturbed conservative right wing. Check out their daily propaganda machine on corporate funded right wing radio and other biased “news” shows, where truth checking or accountability are the one thing missing from the bias and emotionalized ad-hominem “common sense” offered as balance to the all influential mythical liberal media. Crippling critical thinking abilities is a hallmark of conservatism’s, only my way psychosis riddled world view.

BUT BACK TO TREASON

I have implied here that it is now a custom here in the US, to in effect overthrow our democracy. Why are these parties not then, aiding and abetting, giving comfort to our enemies? After all, our so called enemies, who by implication must not be in sync with us, are most likely then comforted by us acting just like them. It seems that Putin, for instance, looks at this US administrations blatant forked tongue hypocrisy to seemingly validate his own agenda as the way things are. The radical Islamicist are invigorated by the very presence of a “Christian” nation trying to tell them what to do and how to be or else. How detached does a philosophy have to be to not know how reaction is empowered by force against it. Conservatism thrives off of a dysfunctional cosmological dialectic. It is the worlds conservatives that are causing all the dogmatic inbred face-offs.

If we are actually in this invisible state non-ending war with the terrorist, and in some way in a really declared state of war, why were the people from the vice presidents office who exposed an undercover agent working on that war on terror, not held fully accountable? It seems we have both a party system of behavior and a presidential permanent state of executive privilege that has us all at the mercy of their will, which by institutional enabled delusion they feel, since they are in position allegedly as representatives–is all our will! These are people who took the election by hook and by crook! I hardly call that a free nation or people. That this does give aid and comfort to our enemies would seem to be obvious. Our enemies know our talk is not backed up by our walk, but only might makes right posturing and use of brute force. Is this the America we serve for and stand for? Is it America right or wrong? Is America reduced to the principles of the “Jonestown” cult?

A CULT ATTEMPTS TO TAKE OVER AMERICA

We have seen, and are still amidst of, an unprecedented attempt to create a one party state subservient to the perverted philosophy, that magically we are all equal, so government should just stay out of all our affairs. That view is pure separatist/alienation/opportunist delusion, since all things are connected. We are seeing an attempt by a kind of mental illness to dominate perception at the expense of most, if not near all of the citizens. It is clear why this dysfunctional delusion of grandeur held by the “right”, is of advantage to those who share the delusion for any reason. After all then, they need not help, assist, comfort, or in any way aid their fellows in times of trouble or dire straights. It is in the name of a perverted “tough love”, that no love is evident at all, but rather ranting anger and conformist only one way mindsets.

They (conservatives) can claim the negative public result is Gods punishment, or of no concern to them, since they earned all they got. That is the primary illusion; that we all are equal in mental and emotional material, and that we all are born into a kind of caste system we deserve. It is delusional because we are not all possessing of the same real opportunities, nor the same historical advantages. That is the plain truth of it. Abstractions can seem to be true, but the reality on the ground is usually quite something else!

THAT NEVER ENDING FEAR CARD

The perpetual state of fear being created by the right should make us all fearful but not for their intended rationalizations. We should be afraid that with the leverage over the citizen now held by the government, that all our rights are now in permanent jeopardy, by those who have abused the constitution and betrayed all who have died to defend our freedoms, for now these, as well as the mandate towards a more perfect union, are held in contempt by them.

The current contempt for the commons held by these kinds of alleged conservatives represents a direct threat to the nation we all were born into as citizens. That they are instituting devises to create a dictatorial executive, and then to cover its own violations of our constitutions tracks by legal maneuverings, is a crime against America itself. If we do not recognize and find our antiseptics to these infected branches of our nations government, I am afraid that the science fiction drama “Jericho” may come to presage our futures. Now there is a mushroom cloud fantasy to have a quandary over.

It is no accident that corporations seeking world hegemony now seem to have many more rights than we the average citizen. They can buy access into our perceptions. They can buy off the members of congress for a pittance. They virtually run one party and have severely compromised the other. They flood our perceptions with their ideals and manufactured needs. The worshiping of money and power over, above rights and principles, is destroying the very nature of our nation for the worse. If these are not acts against our national interest, we have none.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offense is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
